A fire erupted at grain silos in the French port of La Rochelle
Grain silos of the SICA Atlantique company are on fire in France near the commercial port of La Rochelle.
This was reported by France Bleu La Rochelle.
The fire probably started in a conveyor belt inside one of the silos and spread to three others.
"There are thousands of tonnes of wheat in these silos, but so far, the crops have not been affected by the fire," the report says.
Lieutenant Taves of the rescue team that is cleaning up the aftermath of the fire commented to the newspaper that "there is always a danger of an explosion in a silo, but the procedures in place will prevent this."
According to the newspaper, the silos contain "thousands of tonnes of wheat". According to preliminary information, the grain was not damaged.
