An attack on the group of soldiers of the 128th Brigade. What does the command say?
What happened?
On November 3, Russian troops attacked a group of soldiers from the 128th separate Mountain Assault Brigade. It happened in a frontline village in Zaporizhzhia region. No one from the military command officially reported this. Initially, information about the strike appeared on Russian Telegram channels.
Anonymous sources of Suspilne among the military and sources of Ukrainska Pravda in the Ministry of Internal Affairs report that the soldiers were gathered and lined up for the celebrations of the Rocket Forces and Artillery Day.
There are dead and injured as a result of the strike. According to a UP source, 20 soldiers were killed.
On November 3, the Komyshuvakha village council reported the shelling of Zarichne in Zaporizhzhia region. 11 civilians were injured there.
The journalists established that the houses and streets in the photos spread by Russian propaganda channels with information about the attack on the 128th Brigade matched those published by the village council.
What do the authorities say?
On the evening of November 4, the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russians had launched an Iskander-M missile at the group of soldiers. On that day, Russians attacked a number of settlements.
The soldiers suffered varying degrees of injury.
The StratCom did not provide any other information. They stressed that the circumstances are currently being investigated.
The journalists of Suspilne asked representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to comment on the incident. They replied that they "do not comment on losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion".
The command of the Tavria operational-strategic group and brigade and the commander Oleksandr Tarnavskyi also did not comment on the missile's strike on the military.
Defence Ministry announces investigation
Defence Minister Rustem Umierov instructed the Main Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defence to conduct a full investigation into the "fact of this tragedy" and find out all the circumstances of what happened.
Our enemy is a cunning terrorist. We have to make every effort to protect our people and give all honest answers to the families and friends of the fallen soldiers,
Umierov wrote on his Facebook page.
Honouring of the soldiers announced in Zakarpattia
The 128th Brigade is stationed in Zakarpattia, so the head of the local Regional Military Administration, Viktor Mykyta, called on locals to refrain from any entertainment activities in the next few days.
After official information and with the permission of the 128th separate Mountain Assault Brigade, there will be an order honouring the fallen soldiers,
Mykyta wrote.
A three-day regional mourning period for the fallen soldiers has been declared in Zakarpattia since November 6.
