Journalist Jesús Gutiérrez shot dead in Mexico City

Jesús Gutiérrez was the founder and editor of Notiface, a Facebook-based news website, CPJ reports.

As he was talking with the police, shots were fired from a vehicle driving by. Jesus Gutierrez and one police officer were killed, and two others were injured. The prosecutor's office claims that the attackers were targeting law enforcement officers and that the journalist was an accidental victim.

The Infobae newspaper writes that he was also an experienced crime reporter conducting live broadcasts from crime scenes. 

Recently, the journalist posted on Notiface about crime in the city of San Luis Río Colorado including an article about the arrest of an alleged drug trafficker and videos of police vehicles responding to an incident.
