Zelenskyy: Russia is planning a counter-offensive for early summer
Sumy, Ukraine (Svidomi) — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with CBS that Russia is planning a counter-offensive for early summer. According to him, it could begin in late May or June. Zelenskyy has warned of Russian preparations for a counter-offensive before.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to stabilise the situation at the front, but the Ukrainian military needs new supplies of weapons and ammunition to deter the Russian army further.
"Today, the east of out country where we used to have and still have the most dangerous areas out of all directions in the country, the situation is stabilised as much as possible, considering the fact of the deficit of certain weapons and ammunition... The situation is better than it used to be two or three months ago, but it is important that we share all the information with our partners and tell them that Russia will be preparing a counter-offensive. And it could be the end of May or June," the president said.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs not only to stabilise the situation but also to receive appropriate assistance.
"We need help now to prepare the appropriate brigades that will have to defend the land from a new offensive," the president stressed.
Zelenskyy warned of the threat of a new Russian offensive during his press conference on February 25.
Recently, Land Forces Commander Oleksandr Pavliuk said Russia was creating a new 100,000-strong group and could launch an offensive in the summer.
