A British National Paul Urey died in Russian captivity
The British Foreign Office has contacted the family of the 45-year-old man, according to the Presidium Network, a family support group.
Urey was detained on April 25 in the territory of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" when he was trying to conduct a humanitarian rescue mission and was accused of being a mercenary.
The so-called "DPR" stated that the UK citizen died on July 10 allegedly "from illnesses and stress."
The UK is seeking urgent clarification on the death report.
