IAEA experts inspect the roofs of ZNPP Units 3 and 4 reactor buildings, no explosives were found

The IAEA experts did not find any explosives during the inspection of the roofs of the reactor buildings of Zaporizhzhia NPP Units 3 and 4.

The Agency announced this in a statement.

The Russians provided access to the roofs of the power units on August 3.

At night, the IAEA team reported hearing a series of detonations near the plant. The ZNPP employees reported that these detonations did not affect the nuclear power plant, the industrial zone, or Enerhodar.

The mines found on July 23 during the inspection of the plant's perimeter are still in place.

The IAEA team will continue to request access to the roofs of the other four ZNPP units.

It will be recalled that on July 28, the Russians put Unit No. 5 of Zaporizhzhia NPP into cold shutdown mode. This happened three days after the Russians switched Unit No. 4 from cold to hot mode. According to the IAEA, steam from the fourth power unit is used to process wastewater at the plant. The Agency also notes that other reactors are in cold shutdown mode.

The organisation's experts suggested that the Russians install an external steam boiler at ZNPP to put all the nuclear power units in cold shutdown mode.

The IAEA staff who visited Unit No. 5 found that all equipment was allegedly in good condition.
