Mother of Tsikhan Klyukach, a volunteer fighting on the side of Ukraine, detained in Belarus
Belarusian pro-government Telegram channels report the detention of the mother of Tsikhan Klyukach, a volunteer fighting on the side of Ukraine.
The Belarusian branch of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported this.
On August 15, Ina Kalatskaya was detained. The pro-government Telegram channel states she was accused of "involvement in extremism."
Kalatskaya is under arrest, but it is unknown under what article she was detained.
Tsikhan Klyukach is a political prisoner. In January 2021, he was sentenced to a year and a half in prison for "disorderly conduct."
According to the Ukrainian edition of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, in 2020, according to the 'investigation,' Tsikhan Klyukach and Saphiya Malashevich specially travelled from Brest to take part in the Unity March in Minsk on September 6.
The woman allegedly made "vulgar inscriptions" on the military shields that were displayed near the Palace of Independence.
At the beginning of the trial, Tsikhan took the blame, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs provided a video that did not confirm this. For this reason, the prosecutor dropped the charge of hooliganism, leaving only the article on violation of public order.
