North Korea says it has launched first submarine for "tactical nuclear attacks"

North Korean authorities claim to have launched a new tactical nuclear submarine called the Hero Kim Kun Ok.

CNN reported this.

The launching ceremony was attended by Kim Jong Un, who announced more vessels with tactical nuclear weapons.

Kim said the vessel is "equipped with a large number of nuclear delivery means" and capable of "preemptive and retaliatory strikes against hostile countries."

The North Korean leader also called on the country to convert all its medium-sized submarines into nuclear versions.

American experts have expressed doubts about the new submarine. South Korea warned that North Korea is trying to exaggerate its capabilities.

It will be recalled that on September 3, North Korea simulated a nuclear attack for the second time in a week, launching two cruise missiles with fake nuclear warheads toward the West Sea of the Korean Peninsula.
