Russia Killed Them: stories of the people who died as a result of the missile attack on the cafe in the village of Hroza
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the ABO Local Media Development Agency created the project "Memorial: Killed by Russia." The Memorial preserves the names and faces of civilians and military personnel who died due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Svidomi, in collaboration with Memorial: Killed by Russia, tells about people who died due to the shelling of the Hroza village, Kharkiv region.
On October 5, 2023, Iryna Panteleieva was seriously injured during a Russian missile attack on the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region. Attempts were made to save the 62-year-old woman's life, but she died in hospital.
On that day, the Russian military targeted a local shop and cafe, where dozens of people had gathered to pay their respects to Ukrainian soldier Andrii Kozyr. The attack claimed over 50 lives.
Iryna came from Hroza. She ran the household, kept cows and sold milk at the market.
I have only the best memories of my grandmother Iryna and grandfather Valerii. They were kind, sincere, and responsive. They used to do their best for us, often coming to our place. We were close, gathered for all family and religious holidays,
said Daria Panteleieva, the victim's granddaughter.
36-year-old Olha Panteleieva died on October 5, 2023, when Russian soldiers launched a missile attack on the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region.
The serviceman, Andrii Kozyr, was an acquaintance of Olha's husband. The cafe where the soldier was commemorated belonged to a local businessman who was a relative of hers. Olha helped set the missing man table.
Olha was born in Hroza. She ran the house, taking care of the household and children. A year before the full-scale war, she got a job in a woodworking shop in the village of Shevchenkove. After February 24, the company was closed and later, hit by a shell.
Daryna's father and mother were in love with each other. We would sit at the table, and if his wife went somewhere, Anatolii would immediately ask: "Where is my Olia?" I looked at them and dreamed of that kind of love. They tried to give their children a carefree life. After her parents died, Daryna had to mature in a few days,
says Lilia, Daryna's friend.
42-year-old Anatolii Panteleiev was killed on October 5, 2023, when Russian soldiers launched a missile attack on the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region. Anatolii's wife, Olha and his parents, Iryna and Valerii, were also killed.
Anatolii is recalled as a family man and a hard worker. He kept more than 40 pigs and sold meat at the market. He had a field where he grew grain and other crops. He worked hard for his family.
My father and I were close. He was very kind, loved us and wanted us to have the best. He gave us everything he had. He said: "I live for you, and I want you to be well." My father tried to spend his free time with us and never rebuked us for anything. He and my mother loved each other,
said Daryna, Anatolii's daughter.
20-year-old Nina Kozyr died on October 5, 2023, in the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region. Her mother and husband died alongside Nina. The family gathered for a missing man table for Nina's husband's father.
Nina was born in the village of Hroza. She met her husband, Denys Kozyr there. After school, she chose to become a music teacher. She loved singing and performing at concerts. She spent her free time with her family and was fond of embroidery. She donated blood for Ukrainian defenders.
Everyone who knew her would say that she always had a smile on her face and was the heart of the company. Nina seemed filled with sunshine because she gave off only warmth and joy. At any time, you could ask for advice or help and be sure she would respond. It's hard to find friends like that,
said Anna Krykun, a friend of the deceased.
24-year-old Denys Kozyr died on October 5, 2023. Denys was attending a memorial dinner for his military father. His wife, mother, sister, grandparents and mother-in-law also died, along with Denys.

Denys performed combat missions until the summer of 2023, and in June, he resigned from the service for health reasons.
Denys was a man who would never stand aside and always help. He was a persistent, easy-going and cheerful guy. He and his wife Nina led a happy life together...
